Artificial Intelligence in Our Daily Lives

The Continuing Education Department at the Engineering Technical College held a workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence in Our Daily Lives,” presented by Asst. Lecturer Dunya Zaman Al-Shammari.

The workshop introduced the concept of artificial intelligence (AI) as a modern technology that simulates human learning and decision-making, highlighting its growing importance in daily life. It also outlined the main types of AI—narrow (ANI), general (AGI), and superintelligent (ASI)—with practical examples of their applications.

Additionally, the session explained how AI systems work, focusing on machine learning and the role of neural networks in mimicking the human brain. It emphasized AI applications in everyday life and engineering education, particularly in improving learning through smart platforms, automated assessment, and data analysis tools.

The workshop also addressed ethical considerations, including academic integrity, data protection, and avoiding bias, stressing that AI supports human capabilities rather than replacing them.

It concluded with interactive activities to enhance students’ understanding and encourage responsible and critical use of AI technologies.
