Message from the Head of Department:

As the Head of the Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques at the College of Health and Medical Technologies, Al-Imam Jaafar Al-Sadiq University – Baghdad Branch, I am pleased to extend a warm welcome to our esteemed students and respected colleagues.

Our department was established in 2023 as a cornerstone of the college, carrying the mission of preparing technically qualified graduates, both in knowledge and practical skills, capable of performing accurate laboratory diagnostics and keeping pace with the latest advancements in scientific research within this vital field, which represents a fundamental pillar of the healthcare system.

While we highly value the significant support provided by the university presidency in advancing this specialty, we reaffirm our commitment to making the department a beacon of knowledge and a stimulating environment for creativity and excellence in scientific research.

Description

The Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques aims to prepare specialized technicians capable of performing various laboratory tests and analyses for the diagnosis of diseases. The program focuses on training students to handle biological samples and to utilize the latest laboratory equipment in accordance with professional standards.

This department equips its graduates with the skills required to work in diverse health and research institutions, both public and private, thereby contributing to healthcare support and the advancement of scientific research .

Vision

To contribute to preparing technical graduates capable of keeping pace with scientific and technological advancements in the field of medical laboratories, in order to enhance the healthcare system of the country.

Objectives

1. To prepare professional scientific and technical staff specialized in working in hospital laboratories, various departments of the Ministry of Health, as well as public and private laboratories and other related sectors, in order to serve the community.

2. To develop the research, scientific, and technical capacities of both faculty and graduates, keeping pace with modern advancements and encouraging the use of innovative methods within the field of specialization.

3. To establish strong joint scientific and research collaborations with counterpart departments in governmental universities and other universities abroad through participation in seminars, training courses, and workshops, and to make effective use of such opportunities.

4. To provide scientific, technical, and research consultations that contribute to solving certain scientific and specialized problems required by related institutions.
