Description

The Department of Arabic Language at Al-Imam Al-Sadiq University (peace be upon him) constitutes one of the principal academic divisions of the institution. Established concurrently with the university in 2004, it has brought together a number of distinguished professors and scholars of notable repute. Among them are those who have assumed the presidency of the university, such as the late Professor Dr. Na‘ma Rahim Al-‘Azzaawi and the late Professor Dr. Nihad Hasoubi Saleh. The department has also been enriched by the contributions of eminent figures in Arabic studies, including the distinguished critic Professor Dr. Samir Al-Khalil, a leading authority in cultural criticism. Guided by its academic vision and curriculum, the department is committed to the comprehensive study and teaching of the Arabic language, encompassing both its linguistic and literary dimensions.

Message

The Department of Arabic Language strives to preserve the Arabic language within both societal and academic contexts. Given that numerous international figures and non-Arab scholars have shown interest in studying and learning Arabic, it is incumbent upon Arabs themselves to take pride in their language and to strengthen their sense of belonging to it.

Vision

The Department of Arabic Language regards Arabic as one of the world’s living and natural languages, representing the identity of the Arab world and embodying the character of the nation within the framework of interaction with contemporary cultures, knowledge, and experiences, while fostering bridges of human communication with the present reality. Accordingly, the study of Arabic and the commitment to its preservation and advancement are deemed an essential necessity at all levels.

Objectives

• To cultivate a cultured and conscientious generation within society.
• To graduate researchers of high scientific competence, entrusted with the responsibility of teaching the Arabic language, disseminating linguistic culture, and possessing the ability to work in the field of linguistic editing across various governmental and non-governmental institutions.
• To develop students’ expressive abilities in both speech and writing, while fostering their linguistic, literary, and critical sensibilities, as well as their passion for learning and exploration.
