The department aims to prepare graduates who possess in-depth knowledge and comprehensive skills in economics, management, and statistics, in addition to environment, geology, and petroleum engineering, to meet the needs of the sustainable energy industry locally and globally.

The Department of Oil and Gas Economics aims to become an academic and research leader in the study and development of economic and environmental policies related to the oil and gas industry, to contribute to creating innovative solutions to achieve a balance between investing in natural resources and preserving the environment, and to build strategic partnerships with relevant institutions locally and internationally.

The Department of Oil and Gas Economics at the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences, Imam Jaafar Al-Sadiq University, was established to keep pace with the requirements of the contemporary Iraqi economy, in light of the strategic importance of the oil and gas sector, which constitutes the cornerstone of Iraq’s general budget and a primary source of national revenues. The department aims to prepare specialized cadres capable of understanding the dynamics of the petroleum economy and analyzing financial and economic policies related to energy markets. This enables students to acquire both scientific and practical tools that empower them to contribute effectively to the formulation of sound economic policies and to the promotion of economic diversification. Furthermore, the department seeks to equip students with advanced knowledge in macroeconomics, microeconomics, fiscal policy, and energy economics, while emphasizing the integration of theoretical learning with practical application through field studies and cooperation with institutions in the oil and financial sectors in Iraq. |

The Department of Oil and Gas Economics at the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences, Imam Jaafar Al-Sadiq University, was established in the academic year 2018–2019 to meet the requirements of the contemporary Iraqi economy. This initiative reflects the strategic importance of the oil and gas sector, which represents the cornerstone of the Iraqi state budget and the primary source of national revenues.
The department aims to prepare qualified professionals capable of understanding the dynamics of petroleum economics and analyzing the financial and economic policies related to energy markets. This enables students to acquire both theoretical and practical tools that contribute to formulating sound economic policies and promoting economic diversification.
In addition, the department seeks to provide students with advanced knowledge in macroeconomics, microeconomics, fiscal policy, and energy economics. Particular emphasis is placed on linking theory with practice through field studies and collaboration with institutions in the petroleum and financial sectors in Iraq. |
