History
Description
The Department of History is one of the core academic departments within the College of Arts. It is dedicated to the scholarly study of human history, focusing on the development of civilizations, cultures, societies, and political systems from ancient times to the modern era.
Message
Preparing academically qualified individuals to work in the field of historical research and teaching history in accordance with scientific methodology, capable of meeting the demands of the labor market, enriching society with historical culture, and nurturing a sense of national historical awareness
Vision
The History Department seeks to achieve leadership and progress in the field of historical studies and to highlight civilizational aspects at both the local (Iraqi) and international levels. It also aims to draw lessons from the past by connecting it with the present
Objectives
- Developing students’ abilities in the field of historical knowledge to serve society.
- Enhancing students’ skills in the field of historical research.
- Enabling students to acquire knowledge in analyzing historical events.
- Developing students’ capabilities in linking historical events to reality and deriving lessons from them
- Preparing academically trained personnel who contribute to the development of society.
Who Can Register
Graduates of Islamic secondary schools, as well as students from the literary and scientific branches, and graduates of the Teachers’ Institute, are eligible to apply to the department.
History
The department was established in 2004 and has graduated approximately 16 cohorts of students.”
Organizational Structure
1. Head of Department:
• The primary person responsible for managing the department.
• Oversees academic and administrative affairs.
• Represents the department within the college and university.
• Participates in preparing academic plans and course schedules.
2. Department Council:
• Composed of all faculty members in the department.
