The Department of Media is one of the academic departments within the College of Arts. It focuses on the theoretical and practical study of communication and media in journalism, broadcasting, public relations, advertising, and digital media. The department’s goal is to graduate skilled media professionals who are creative content producers, campaign managers, and adaptive communicators in today’s technological landscape.

We strive to be distinguished in preparing media cadres by adopting modern and advanced scientific curricula with the best modern teaching methods, leading them to acquire scientific and media skills capable of generating creativity.

Vision

Keeping pace with rapid developments in media technology to deliver high-quality media content and prepare competent graduates who are professionally and academically qualified to work in public relations, radio, and television journalism, thus elevating them to a level of excellence , high potential, and outstanding media competencies that meet the demands of the labor market.

Objectives

1. Train students in technical and directing techniques in the field of radio and television, as well as training them in journalistic writing and the art of public relations.

2. Create an attractive environment for distinguished academic talents, providing them with support and motivation to prepare scientific research in accordance with modern curricula.

3. Adopt a training program in cooperation with media institutions that contributes to providing information that serves the community, thereby creating awareness among citizens about making sound decisions

Who Can Register

Admission to the Department of Media is open to:

- Graduates of secondary schools (both literary and scientific branches).

- Graduates of all other secondary schools (except the Islamic Waqf schools and Teachers’ Institute).

- Graduates of the Teachers’ Institute may apply provided they have at least five years of professional experience in the media field, along with recommendations from two senior media professionals.

History

 

The Department of Media was established in 2008, and since then, it has graduated several cohorts of students who have joined the workforce in various media institutions (print, broadcast, and digital).
