Description

The Department of Law is a key pillar of the College, as it undertakes the task of preparing scientifically and practically qualified students in various branches of law, and the department focuses on consolidating the principles of justice and the rule of law, and developing the skills of legal analysis and research, in a way that enables graduates to contribute effectively in the fields of the judiciary, advocacy, and legal consultations, where the path to the world of justice begins . In the Department of Law, the student acquires solid knowledge of laws and regulations, and is trained in critical thinking and formulation of legal solutions to various issues, as the department qualifies graduates capable of serving the community and safeguarding rights, in courtrooms, in state institutions, and everywhere justice is made

History

This department was established in the academic year 2005-2006 and has a duration of four years. After graduation, students are awarded a bachelor's degree in law, and its two scientific branches (public law and private law) contribute to the awarding of the academic degree in law.

Department Outcomes

(1) Legal knowledge, as the graduate of the law department is familiar with national and international laws and is able to analyze the law and draft memoranda and pleadings.

(2) Practical practice, as the graduate of the law department is qualified to practice law and plead before the judiciary and work in public and private institutions in the legal fields, such as working as a legal or human rights consultant in the state institutions, or as an investigator, officer or judge after passing some special requirements for some jobs .

(3) Scientific research skills, as the graduate of the Department of Law has the skills of scientific research in the field of research and articles, as well as the skills of writing a thesis and dissertation if the graduate wishes to complete postgraduate studies.

(4) Critical thinking and formulation of legal solutions, as the graduate of the Department of Law is qualified to analyze the elements of social realities in terms of necessity and need, and in terms of pros and cons, which enables him to give realistic legal solutions in the society.

(5) Establishing the principles of justice, integrity and the rule of law among law graduates, which produces for us individuals who enjoy impartiality, integrity and objectivity.

(a) Objectives of the Department:

First: Cognitive Objectives :

1- The student's knowledge of various legal theories.

2- The student's knowledge of the analysis of legal theories.

3- The student should distinguish between legal rules, customary rules, moral rules, religious rules, and social rules.

4- Enabling the student to be equipped with a level of knowledge in the field of law in order to be able to find solutions to the various problems facing him in the practical field.

5- Strengthening the bonds of belonging and citizenship in line with the values of Iraqi society and national unity.

6. Preparing lawyers, legal staff, and persons capable of practicing all legal professions in the public, private, and mixed sectors.

7- Encouraging scientific research in the field of law, contributing to solving the issues of society, and keeping pace with the legislative developments in the country.

8. Preparing activists in the field of defending the rights and freedoms of citizens and enlightening them about them.

9. Fruitful scientific communication with universities and corresponding colleges, cooperation with state institutions, and providing legal consultations.

10. Holding seminars and training courses in legal topics and spreading the culture of law and knowledge in various circles.

11- The student's knowledge of the different theories of law.

12- Familiarize the student with the position of Iraqi law on general issues, and to get acquainted with the nature of the legal structure in the state.

13. The student must distinguish between the types of lawsuits, the judicial authorities competent to hear them, and the types of legal rules applied therein.

14. The student should learn the procedures for filing lawsuits, their conditions and their actions on the facts presented to him in all branches of law.

Second: Skills objectives of the program :

1 – The student should acquire the skill of accurate legal analysis and develop his legal thinking faculty.

2 – The student should acquire the ability and skill to provide legal advice and opinions.

3. The student must acquire the ability to plead before the competent judicial courts and the skill of recalling legal arguments and supports.

Third: Objectives related to teaching and learning methods:

1- The method of giving is accompanied by interrogation by directing direct questions to the students and involving them in the lecture.

2- Holding virtual trials during the classroom and forming groups of students.

3- Assigning the student to write reports related to the topics of the course.

4- Opening discussion panels in the classroom, raising controversial topics, and allowing students to express and exchange their opinions.

Fourth: Emotional and Value-Based Goals :

1- The ability to speak in front of an audience and discuss.

2- Learning teamwork and cooperation in completing tasks.
