 The Department of Political Science is a department specialized in the study of international relations, political systems, and political thought of its classical, Islamic and Western types, as this department provides students with an important knowledge base in understanding international political interactions in all scientific fields and at the local and international levels.

Who Can Register

There is a morning and evening study program in the Department of Politics, and the Department of Politics accepts graduates of the preparatory , scientific, applied and literary branches of study, in addition to graduates of the Institute of Police Commissioners, and the acceptance rate in the morning and evening program is 50.

History

The Department of Politics was established at the College of Law and Politics/Imam Jafar Al-Sadiq University (peace be upon him), to be one of the most important pillars of the college, and since its inception, this department has been keen to develop the knowledge base of students and develop its academic and scientific programs in order to achieve tangible positive results in the field of scientific studies, in line with global and regional political changes.

10. Holding seminars and training courses on political topics and spreading the culture of politics and knowledge in various circles.

(a) Cognitive objectives 

1- The student's knowledge of various political theories.     

2- The student's knowledge of scientific research in political science, analysis, and participation in research centers in fields such as

Political thought, international relations, political systems, human rights, and crisis analysis, especially those that affect the country and its future and contribute to deepening their understanding of political issues and enhancing their research capabilities, which is an important asset in the public and private sectors.

3- The student should know how to build bridges of communication between the department and civil institutions through events such as conferences and workshops.

4. The student should learn to strengthen relations with the bodies responsible for making political decisions, including legislative, executive and judicial authorities.

(b) Skills objectives of the program

1 – The student should acquire the skill of accurate political analysis and develop his political thinking faculty.

2 – The student should acquire the ability and skill to provide political advice, opinions, and analysis.

Teaching and learning methods .

1- The method of giving is accompanied by interrogation by directing direct questions to the students and involving them in the lecture.

2- Holding discussion and analytical seminars during the classroom and forming groups of students.

3- Assigning the student to write reports related to the topics of the course.

4- Opening discussion seminars in the classroom, raising controversial topics, and allowing students to express and exchange their opinions.
