Description
The Department of Business Administration is one of the academic departments affiliated with the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences at Al-Imam Al-Sadiq (A.S.) University. Established in 2016, the department admits students from both the scientific and literary branches of secondary education, as well as graduates from commercial preparatory schools. The curricula are continuously updated in line with scientific advancements in the field of management, in cooperation with public universities. The department has organized numerous workshops and seminars in the field of management delivered by its faculty members, in addition to several joint training courses in collaboration with relevant ministries.
Message
The mission of the Department of Business Administration is to educate and prepare students academically, ethically, and practically to serve both the public and private sectors. This mission contributes to developing a highly qualified workforce across various administrative specializations. The department provides students with not only scientific and managerial skills but also the national and social values necessary to enable them to participate in leadership roles and decision-making processes in diverse administrative fields across Iraq and the region.
To fulfill this mission, the department adopts modern teaching methods that combine theoretical foundations with practical applications, notably through student graduation research projects conducted in collaboration with public and private institutions. Accordingly, the department contributes to community service through the following:
- Preparing students to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
- Conducting research and studies in various areas of business administration.
- Providing administrative consultations and strategic studies to internal and external institutions upon request.
- Cooperating with public and private sector organizations in financial and strategic management.
- Organizing specialized seminars and scientific workshops.
Vision
The Department of Business Administration – College of Administrative and Financial Sciences – Al-Imam Al-Sadiq (A.S.) University aspires to be a distinguished department academically and administratively by applying quality assurance standards and academic accreditation issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The department aims to stay in tune with developments in peer departments in both local and international universities, strengthen its community engagement, and remain up to date with administrative and scientific progress.
The department also seeks to be one of the most academically and professionally outstanding departments among its counterparts in educational institutions across Iraq, reaching a performance level comparable to those in advanced countries. Its graduates are expected to contribute to the development and enhancement of administrative skills and the ability to make sound, modern, and scientific decisions in various management fields.
Objectives
The department’s objectives include the following:
- Preparing qualified professionals with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration to keep pace with modern developments and meet the needs of society in line with contemporary management concepts.
- Strengthening the relationship between the college and the industrial and service sectors through field research and studies, aiming to find solutions to the challenges faced by organizations and bridging the gap between academia and industry.
- Providing students with a quality education that integrates theory with practice, enabling them to adapt to scientific progress and meet the demands of the labor market.
- Enhancing the academic performance of the department by attracting highly qualified faculty, conducting outstanding administrative research and studies that serve the community, and offering consultations to support and develop institutions.

History
The Department of Business Administration was established with the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, according to official letter No. 4008 dated October 23, 2016. It admits students who graduated from scientific, literary, and commercial branches of secondary school and grants them a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration Sciences. This field has become essential for ambitious individuals aiming to establish and manage successful business ventures.
Students in the department study various specialized subjects, including operations management, human resource management, organizational behavior, quantitative methods, marketing management, and inventory planning and control. The department aims to prepare students to occupy administrative positions in different business sectors and seeks to actively participate in the community, develop human resource capabilities, and meet national needs in the business administration field — one of the most expansive fields in today’s job market.
To keep up with the latest developments in administrative sciences, the department has adopted a modern curriculum based on the semester (course-based) system. In this system, students study one subject in the first semester (Course I), followed by a new, complementary subject in the second semester (Course II), directly linked to the first. Emphasis during the study period is placed on both practical and applied aspects, in addition to theoretical knowledge.
